29 Sep 2017 - 18:00
Science in the City is back for its 6th edition over the streets of Valletta. On Friday 29th September, join us
as we host a mixture of old favourites and brand new activities, from 6pm-midnight.
This year our theme is Future: Today’s Research in Tomorrow’s Society. Experience and conduct your own
experiments as we bring the future of research to life today. Witness the powers of artificial reality bringing
artwork to life, benefits of virtual reality in the classroom, and Big Brother is watching your progression
around the festival with new facial recognition technology.
Special features this year will include a first for Malta: a life-size hologram showcasing the future of
healthcare in 3D before your eyes. Greenhouse will be taking over President’s Palace to convince you of
the importance of bees to our ecosystem with #Bees4Food. We welcome back Late Interactive and EU
project HOT with Light Pushes Stuff, giving you control of 60 kinetic lights with nothing except a
smartphone torch light .
Our NGO area organised by chief NGO Malta Chamber of Scientists is back, under the theme “Race
Against Time”. Join organisations like Birdlife, Y4TE and many more to hear about measures these NGOs
are taking to protect our environment, and what you can do to help.
We hope you can join us for this all this and so much more at the biggest Science in the City event yet!
The Science in the City—European Researchers’ Night festival is recognised by EFFE and organised by
the University of Malta, Malta Chamber of Scientists, and Research Trust (RIDT), together with a host of
partners and sponsors, and funded by the EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action of the Horizon 2020
(H2020) Programme (2014–2020). Full programme: www.scienceinthecity.org.mt Facebook:
