Dr. Noel Camilleri was appointed President of the National Band Club Association (Għaqda Kazini tal-Banda) in September 2012 after having been involved in the local Band Club scene for the past 15years as Chairman of one of the main local Band Clubs namely the “Socjeta Filarmonika L-Unjoni A.D.1880”. The National Band Club Association represents 86 out of 88 Band societies in Malta and Gozo all of which primarily have a voluntary set-up with a direct membership of over 4000 individuals. These societies can be considered as one of the main foundations of the musical cultural scene in Malta. Apart from these 4000 volunteers who are directly and actively involved throughout the whole year, one can add a similar or even somewhat greater number of volunteers who are involved in the feasts that are organized all over Malta and Gozo.
