National Strategy and Action Plan on Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings in Malta – Questions for VOs working in the field

MCVS has received the following:

 

The Human Rights Directorate is carrying out the first reporting exercise for the National Strategy and Action Plan on Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings in Malta (2024–2030). The strategy was approved in July 2024, so this reporting will cover activities from 2024 to June 2025.

 

STRATEGIC AREA 3: Increasing Reporting by Victims, Effective Investigation and Prosecution of Traffickers

Strategic Goal 3.3: Improve Strategic Management and Partnership

Objective 2: Strengthen coordination and cooperation between frontline professionals – especially civil society and law enforcement – to build stronger engagement, cooperation, and trust in combating human trafficking.

Expected Outcome: Better engagement, cooperation, and trust among stakeholders, leading to a genuine partnership and bringing diverse perspectives on all aspects of trafficking in human beings (THB).

Key Action: Set up an independent advisory group made up of frontline workers, including civil society organisations.

 

In this context, VOs working in this area are kindly requested to provide responses to the following questions:

 

o What work was completed during this reporting period? (Please include dates of activities)

o What work is planned or scheduled?

o What lessons were learnt?

o What delays, challenges, or issues were encountered, and how were these addressed/mitigated?

o What evidence is available for the activity? (Please specify the type of evidence and the location of the files)

o What statistics can you provide? (such as number of training sessions, people trained, leaflets disseminated etc.)
