April is World Autism Month
In our efforts to continue to spread awareness, educate further and promote acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASLP is proud to host three CPD talks, throughout the month of April, on this condition.
The talks will be spread throughout the month of April as follows:

Time: 18:00 – 19:00 (CET)
Title: Communication and ASD – Nonverbal communication and American-speaking Maltese children

Presenter: Ms. Kristina Uhlmann (Agius), B.Sc. (Hons), M.Ed. Autism (Birm).
Date: 23rd April, 2021, Friday
Time: 18:00 – 19:00 (CET)
Title: Unveiling autism in girls
Description: The webinar will highlight the female phenotype and discuss why girls often ‘slip through the net’ in view of current diagnostic criteria. A practical girls’ autism screener will be shared with participants.
Presenter: Ms. Michelle Mifsud, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. (Shef.)
Date: 28th April, 2021, Wednesday
Time: 18:00 – 19:00 (CET)
Title: Bilingualism and ASD. Exposing a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to more than one language in the home: is it beneficial?
Description: There is currently, little research that addresses the effects of dual language exposure on the language abilities of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This webinar will address the gaps and myths associated with bilingualism and ASD by presenting the results gathered from my Master’s degree study. The purpose of this study was to compare the language abilities of children with ASD who are exposed to predominantly one language at home to the language abilities of children with ASD who are exposed to two relatively equal proportions of languages at home.
Presenter: Ms. Donna Attard, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc.(Melit)
