New Funding Opportunity Alert: Community Support Scheme (CSS)


MCVS is pleased to introduce the Community Support Scheme (CSS), which is a brand-new funding programme designed to empower voluntary organisations and councils that are making a real difference in their communities.


1. What It Supports

CSS encourages a wide range of local initiatives with historical, social, and cultural development value.

Examples include:
Physical infrastructure improvements: such as installing ramps, accessible toilets, elevators in historic community centres, or climate control and acoustic systems in local rehearsal spaces.
– Restoration and maintenance: such as cleaning and conserving paintings, statues, or furniture.
– Knowledge-driven projects: such as conferences, training programmes, and research initiatives that strengthen local cultural identity, skills, and awareness.


2. Funding Available

A total budget of €800,000 is available, distributed as follows:

Action 1: Major Investments up to €40,000 per project (double the VOPS maximum!)
Action 2: Smaller Scale Investments up to €20,000 per project
Action 3: Organisation of Events up to €10,000 per project


3. Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants include 21 local councils4 regional councils, and around 900 voluntary organisations located in areas not covered under the EU’s LEADER Programme.

Eligible localities:
Ħal Balzan, Birkirkara, Bormla, Ħal Tarxien, il-Belt Valletta, il-Birgu, il-Fgura, il-Furjana, il-Gżira, il-Ħamrun, l-Imsida, l-Isla, il-Marsa, Paola, Pembroke, San Ġiljan, San Ġwann, Santa Venera, Tal-Pietà, Tas-Sliema, and Ta’ Xbiex.


4. When to Apply

Applications are open now, but only for a limited time!
Deadline: Wednesday, 10th December at noon.
