Maltese Funeral Marches accompanied by Flamenco Dancing
El Sagrado is the name of a concert by the King George V Band of Mqabba to be held on the occasion of the inauguration of La Semana Santa de Espana Holy Week exhibition.
For this concert the King George V Band has joined forces with Alegria Dance Company, a professional Maltese Flamenco company, with the aim to introduce a new concept for the Good Friday celebrations in Malta. This will see for the 1st time Maltese Funeral Marches and Sacred Music accompanied by Flamenco dancing, bringing together Maltese and Spanish art.
This will see the two total different form of arts combined together in one project. An event that will attract the interest of the Good Friday enthusiasts in Malta but not just, also to the people who are into the art of dancing, Spanish people and the general public. The King George V will also be playing Spanish and Classical music.
The concert will also be animated by the local drama youths portraying several scenes from the life of Jesus. Afterwards the audience can attend the official inauguration of the exhibition La Semana Santa at Palazz Santa Marija, featuring over 150 miniature statues decorated in fine velvet and hand-made lace, silver filigree, threading and ganutell, replicas of those of the Spanish Cities.
El Sagrado Concert will take place on Saturday, 1 April at 7:30pm at the Mqabba Primary School Auditorium and is supported by Creative Communities Fund under the Malta Arts Council
