MEER – National Energy and Climate Plan – stakeholders' consultation

24 Jul 2024 - 00:00

The Ministry for Environment, Energy, and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour is reaching out to officially notify you that a consultation will be carried out on the final takeaways of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) version prior to its submission to the European Commission.

As a way of background, the NECP is a framework within the European Union whereby Member States plan their climate and energy objectives, targets, policies, and measures. Each Member State is required to develop a ten-year rolling NECP, with an update halfway through, covering the five Dimensions of the Energy Union.

This plan will provide a detailed account of how Malta, as a Member State of the European Union, is addressing the requirements set out in the Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union, particularly regarding stakeholder involvement and public consultation. We would like to engage with interested organizations to discuss further this plan beyond the general public consultation procedure.

This is for organizations to indicate interest in organizing a more targeted consultation.

We aim to ensure esteemed stakeholders involvement, aligning with the Government’s commitment to the green energy and climate transition. It is therefore appreciated if you can let us whom would be interested to organize such meetings accordingly.

Organisations may send their interests to Ms. Ioanna Thoma ioanna.thoma@mra.org.mt

Organisations will be asked to attend a meeting at the Ministry for Environment, Energy and Regeneration of the Grand Harbour at Quarry Wharf, Valletta on the 29th July @14:00.
