The main scope of this organisation is to ensure that the Old Parish Church of St. Julian, that enjoys a history spanning four centuries, remains at the centre of parish and community life and continues to serve as a place of worship and prayer through the celebration of the sacraments in the Roman Catholic rite. This voluntary organisation also aims at preserving and raising awareness of the historical patrimony bequeathed to the people of St. Julian’s by its forefathers through the organisation of various cultural and educational activities, meetings, publishing of publications and through other means, including the social media. It also seeks to conduct the necessary studies, obtain the required estimates from different restoration/conservation firms as well as skilled artisans and craftsmen, draw up the relevant project proposals and raise the necessary funds and to restore and conserve the church edifice and the works of art housed within its confines, as well as to commission new works of art to adorn the church. Finally, the Għaqda Dilettanti Knisja ta’ Lapsi, San Ġiljan is also responsible for ensuring the regular upkeep of the church and its decoration for the main feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church and including the titular feast of St. Julian celebrated on the last Sunday of August. For this occasion, it also contributes in the decoration of streets and open spaces within the vicinity of the Church.
