ICOMOS (Malta) is a non-profit making organisation. Its aims are to foster co-operation, mutual assistance and the exchange of information among its members and in particular to:
i. support and promote the aims and objectives of ICOMOS among professionals in Malta and contribute to the realization of ICOMOS’ programmes both within Malta and elsewhere;
ii. promote membership of ICOMOS among professionals in Malta;
iii. be the principal instrument of communication between ICOMOS and the members in Malta;
iv. ensure the management of ICOMOS’ interests within Malta to the best of the resources available to the National Committee;
v. implement the decisions of the ICOMOS General Assembly and the programmes proposed by the Advisory and Executive Committees of the Council;
vi. represent the professional interests of its members to the ICOMOS headquarters;
vii. co-operate with the International Committees of ICOMOS and with national and international organizations concerned with the conservation, protection, rehabilitation and enhancement of historical monuments, groups of buildings and sites;
viii. serve as a forum for discussion and for the exchange of information, nationally and internationally, on matters of principle and of technical, legal and administration practice, affecting the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of monuments, groups of buildings and sites.
ix. The National Committee may:
a. Make pecuniary gains from its activities provided that such gains are directed towards the attainment of the National Committee’s goals and do not include the promotion of private interests.
b. Buy or sell or negotiate objects that are exclusively related to its principal objectives.
