The Soċjetà Dun Filippu Borgia is a socio-historical Society which was founded in Birkirkara in 1936. Since its foundation, the main focus of the Soċjetà was that of creating awareness amongst the people of Birkirkara with regards to the distinctive significance of the locality in local history especially when it comes to St Helen’s Collegiate Church instituted by Pope Urbanus VIII on 5th December 1630.
In this regard, the Soċjetà is involved in various initiatives and commitments related to the safeguarding of historical places of interest and the dissemination of information through leaflets and other publications regarding Birkirkara’s historical events.
Every year, in conjunction with Birkirkara’s Local Council, it commemorates Jum Birkirkara by holding a musico-literary evening at St Helen’s Basilica in Birkirkara. It also collaborates with Birkirkara’s Local Council and other local clubs or entities on various issues which relate to the well-being of the Karkariżi.
