The Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector held a meeting with Prime Minister Robert Abela at Auberge de Castille. During the meeting the Prime Minister defined volunteering as a beautiful aspect of our society. Dr. Abela said that the voluntary sector must keep updating with the times and thrive, while we must be supportive by simplifying processes for the organisations that benefit from funds. The Prime Minister also noted the importance of training for people who give their time for volunteering.
The Chairperson of the Council, Ms. Gertrude Buttigieg, expressed her satisfaction for the meeting and explained how the Government’s commitment to reduce the tax due on monetary donations would be an important step to continue incentivising the voluntary sector. The Minister for Inclusion, Voluntary Organisations and Consumer Rights Julia Farrugia Portelli and the CEO of the Council Mauro Pace Parascandalo were also present for the meeting.
