B’referenza għall-kummenti li għamel is-Sur Michael Stivala, President tal-Malta Developers Association, il-Kunsill Malti għas-Settur tal-Volontarjat jixtieq jistqarr li mhux aċċettabbli li individwi ġewwa jew barra mis-Settur tal-Volontarjat jagħmlu allegazzjonijiet mingħajr ma jkunu sostanzjati bil-fatti f’idejhom. Id-dritt għall-assoċjazzjoni ħielsa u l-libertà tal-espressjoni huma mħarsa mill-Kostituzzjoni Malta. Il-Kunsill Malti għas-Settur tal-Volontarjat jappoġġa bil-qawwa lill-organizzazzjonijiet volontarji kollha fis-settur fid-diversità u xi drabi n-natura opposta tagħhom. Is-settur qiegħed hemm biex jesprimi t-tħassib u jaħdem fuq kwistjonijiet li huma importanti għas-soċjetà.
B’dan l-ispirtu ta’ rispett u solidarjetà, l-Kunsill jappella lil kulħadd fi ħdan is-settur volontarju u s-Soċjetà Maltija b’mod ġenerali biex jifhmu li l-għaqdiet volontarji joperaw f’qafas legali biex li jassigura prattiċi tajba u trasparenza fl-operat tagħhom u fl-immaniġġjar tajba tal-fondi. Dan huwa żgurat ukoll bir-rappurtar u l-kontrolli relevanti mill-Kummissarju għall-Organizzazzjonijiet Volontarji u awtoritajiet oħra kif regolat bil-liġi. Il-Kunsill jixtieq jenfasizza wkoll li għandu l-akbar rispett lejn dawk kollha involuti fis-settur.
Kwalunkwe allegazzjoni għandha tiġi rrappurtata b’mod adegwat lill-awtoritajiet rilevanti bil-provi meħtieġa, u mhux aċċettabbli li organizzazzjonijiet jew individwi involuti fis-settur volontarju jkunu soġġetti għal umiljazzjoni pubblika.
Statement by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector
Wednesday 5th April 2023
With reference to the statement made by Mr. Michael Stivala, President of the Malta Developers Association, the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector wishes to state that it is unacceptable that individuals within or outside the Voluntary Sector make allegations without being substantiated with facts in hand. The right for free association and freedom of expression are protected by the Constitution Malta. The Malta Council for the Voluntary sector strongly supports all voluntary organisations in the sector in their diversity and sometimes opposing natures. The sector is there to voice concerns and work on issues which matter to society.
With this spirit of respect and solidarity, the Council appeals to all within the voluntary sector and Maltese Society at large to understand that voluntary organisations operate within a legal framework to ensure good practices and transparency in their operation and good management of funds. This is ensured also with the relevant reporting and checks by the Commissioner for the Voluntary Organisations and other authorities as required by law. The Council would like to stress that it upholds the utmost respect for all involved in the sector.
Any allegations are to be adequately reported to the relevant authorities with necessary proof, and it is not acceptable that organisations or individuals involved in the voluntary sector are subjected to public shaming.
